The Summit will convene principal Obama Administration officials for a day of open dialogue, in which participants from the community and government will work together to create an action plan for empowering the AAPI community. The Summit’s Keynote Speaker is Christopher P. Lu, Cabinet Secretary and Assistant to the President, and Co-Chair of WHIAAPI. Also in attendance will be Kiran Ahuja, WHIAAPI Executive Director; and Alex Wan, the first AAPI Atlanta City Council Member. Local AAPI partnering organizations include the Asian American Legal Advocacy Center (AALAC), the Asian American Resource Center (AARC), the Center for Pan Asian Community Services (CPACS), and OCA-Georgia.
Hosted by historic Emory University, our program will feature four morning breakout sessions led by AAPI leaders on the issues of
(1) Immigration & Civil Rights,
(2) Health Care/Mental Health Issues,
(3) Housing and Foreclosures, and
(4) Small Business and Economic Issues for Entrepreneurs.
This will be followed by a FREE LUNCH, the Keynote Speech, and the afternoon Town Hall Meeting/Listening Session.
